Kosovo’s Prime Minister in office, Albin Kurti, participated in the ceremony awarding Vincenzo Paglia the honorary title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” in Peja. During the event, Kurti emphasized Paglia’s significant contributions to Kosovo, particularly in a time when the country was not receiving much global attention.
Kurti acknowledged Paglia’s pivotal role in facilitating the first meeting between President Ibrahim Rugova and Pope John Paul II in March 1993, a historic moment that marked a turning point in Kosovo’s history.
“Through his Christian tradition, our dear friend Vincenzo Paglia dedicated decades of friendship to our people and our country,” Kurti remarked, underscoring the profound impact of Paglia’s support for Kosovo.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Paglia’s integrity and zeal, noting that true friendship, as exemplified by Paglia, is akin to love—unconditional and without expectation.
