Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in Washington for a meeting with President Donald Trump and senior U.S. officials.

The talks will mainly focus on the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and the hostages, 59 of whom are still being held captive, as well as Trump’s new tariff policy, which will see Israeli goods facing a 17% U.S. tariff.

However, it has been reported that the plane carrying the Israeli prime minister flew 400 kilometers farther than the usual route from Hungary, where he held meetings with Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in order to avoid the airspace of several countries that could enforce an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Last November, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and his former defense minister for alleged war crimes committed against Palestinians in Gaza.
