Labour Party MP from the United Kingdom, Alex Sobel, has reiterated his country’s strong commitment to supporting Kosovo in all international processes, including global recognitions and membership in relevant organizations.
Sobel emphasized that the UK is also prepared to contribute to the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia—if such a role is accepted by all parties involved.
“The United Kingdom will continue to fully support Kosovo, whether in terms of recognition by other countries or joining international institutions… It’s been 14 years of negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia to normalize relations, and the UK wants to support this process, play our part, come and show President Vjosa Osmani that we are here to support Kosovo. I also visited Belgrade. I believe the UK is ready to take on a role… But of course, this would require the agreement of all parties. The main mediator remains the European Union,” Sobel told Tëvë1.
He noted that the UK’s involvement in the process will depend on the willingness of both Kosovo and Serbia to accept that role.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of Kosovo continuing to have strong international backing in the next stages of state-building and integration.
