Emilja Rexhepi, the elected MP representing the Bosniak community and outgoing Deputy Prime Minister, has publicly declared her “absolute support” for Albin Kurti in forming the next government and in the parliamentary process to elect the Speaker of the Assembly.
Speaking to Klan Kosova, Rexhepi expressed gratitude for Kurti’s recent offer of a ministerial post, though she confirmed her decision to remain in parliament. She emphasized that members of her political circle from NDS (Nova Demokratska Stranka), who contributed to their electoral success, should now take key positions in state institutions.
“I offer my absolute support to Prime Minister Kurti, both in parliament and in forming the new government,” she stated.
Rexhepi praised their past cooperation in government, particularly her roles as Minister of Local Government Administration and later as Deputy Prime Minister, calling it a significant step for Bosniak representation in Kosovo.
“It was a great privilege for the Bosniak community. I thank him also for the offer in the new government, but I have decided to return to parliament and ensure that those around me who brought victory to NDS now serve citizens through institutional roles,” she added.
Rexhepi’s support could prove vital as Kurti and Vetëvendosje seek to secure a governing majority and navigate the turbulent process of forming a new executive amid ongoing political friction in the Assembly.
