Albulena Haxhiu, the candidate from the Self-Determination Movement (VV) for the President of the Kosovo Assembly, failed to secure the necessary votes in the third round of voting, making this her third unsuccessful attempt for this key position in the country’s highest legislative institution.
The voting process was marked by a clear lack of consensus among political parties and representatives of non-majority communities.
Abstentions:
Three deputies from the Social Democratic Initiative abstained.
Unclear Vote:
The vote of deputy Adem Hoxha from the Gorani Unified Party remains unclear (he neither voted for, against, nor abstained).
Absent Votes:
Nine deputies from the Serb List did not participate in the vote.
Support:
One vote in favor of Haxhiu’s candidacy came from Veton Berisha, a deputy from the Egyptian Liberal Party.
However, this was not enough to surpass the required threshold for election as the Assembly President.
Absence:
Deputy Duda Balje from the Bosniak community was absent from the plenary session.
In total, 117 deputies were present in the session.
