Kosovo and the United States have held the first meeting of their newly established Working Group on Energy Cooperation at the Ministry of Economy.
The group brings together political and technical representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) and the Kosovo Transmission System and Market Operator (KOSTT), alongside representatives of the US Embassy in Kosovo and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation on energy security and affordability. Through information and expertise sharing, both sides will explore opportunities that address shared priorities and the needs of Kosovo’s energy sector.
The working group builds on the longstanding cooperation between Kosovo and the United States in the energy sector. Previous initiatives include the establishment of the Albanian Power Exchange (ALPEX), the development of Kosovo’s Energy Strategy, the launch of the country’s first solar auction and investments in battery energy storage through the MCC Compact Program.
Both sides expressed their commitment to continuing the partnership and identifying concrete opportunities for cooperation to build a more secure and sustainable energy system in Kosovo.
