Bashkimi from Prizren has secured a spot in the finals of the Kosovo Basketball Superleague playoffs.
The team clinched its place on Thursday evening at the “Karagaçi” sports hall in Peja, defeating the home team with a score of 84:78.
This was Bashkimi’s third win in the semifinal series the number needed to qualify for the final round.
The match in Peja, like many other playoff games, was marked by incidents. Early in the fourth quarter, a fan who was on the court struck Bashkimi player Jayveous McKinnis with the basketball.
The American player approached the fan, who then pushed him in the chest. Other Bashkimi players intervened, resulting in a brief scuffle. The fans were removed from that section of the court, and the game resumed after a few minutes.
However, just eight seconds before the end, explosive devices were thrown onto the court. One of them detonated very close to the feet of Bashkimi player Altin Morina. The game was interrupted once more and resumed only after all fans were cleared from the arena.
