The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has made a decision that directly impacts American public media. He has ordered the cessation of federal funding for public television and radio, PBS and NPR, labeling them as media that “spread propaganda.”

The news has been officially confirmed by the White House, which reposted Trump’s executive order on the platform “X,” making it clear that financial support for these two public institutions has now been halted.

According to Trump, these media outlets are funded by taxpayers and spread propaganda, adding that government funding for them is unnecessary.

Under the signed order, not only is new funding for PBS and NPR prohibited, but current funds will also be immediately discontinued.

Trump clarified that no recipient of funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) will be allowed to use federal funds for these two media outlets.

In the same vein, the president has issued a warning to third-party agencies, demanding they stop any form of direct or indirect funding for NPR and PBS.
