The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, expressed concern over the cancellation of yesterday’s press conference by the President of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, Ekaterina Trendafilova, in Pristina. The cancellation followed protests by leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK).
Rohde stated that the Kosovo Specialist Chambers are part of Kosovo’s legal system, and public outreach is a fundamental part of its mandate.
“The cancellation of the press conference due to pressure from UÇK veterans raises serious concerns. Authorities must ensure that the court can carry out its work without interference,” Rohde said.
Yesterday, a group of veterans, along with OVL-UÇK leaders, protested outside the hotel where Trendafilova’s press conference was scheduled to take place. During the protest, black smoke was released.
Later, the Specialist Chambers confirmed that the conference was cancelled due to public safety concerns.
