Violent Protest in San Francisco: 148 People Arrested, One Police Officer Injured

San Francisco police have announced that Sunday’s protests escalated into acts of violence and property damage, resulting in 148 arrests and one injured officer, Rks News reports.

According to Acting Police Chief Paul Yep, the protests, which initially began as a civil demonstration, turned violent. One officer was taken to the hospital for medical treatment but is now out of danger.

According to reports by the BBC, 60 individuals who refused to disperse were arrested at the scene, while the remaining arrests occurred at various locations across the city throughout the night. So far, 147 individuals have been released, while six minors remain in custody.

Police stated that half of those arrested are San Francisco residents, while the others came from different cities. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and the extent of damage to both public and private property.
