The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has announced its intention to take legal action against the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) after its administrative appeal was rejected. The appeal challenged ERO’s decision to mandate over 1,300 businesses to transition to the free energy market.
According to PDK, this decision risks thousands of jobs and seriously undermines Kosovo’s economic stability.
“This is a deeply unjust, unprofessional, biased, and extremely political decision at its core. ERO, which should be an institution serving the citizens and the country’s economy, has chosen to turn a blind eye to the catastrophic consequences of this decision for the private sector – the main pillar of economic development and employment in Kosovo,” PDK stated in its announcement.
PDK Pledges Continued Fight for Businesses and Workers
PDK has declared that it will pursue this matter in court.
“We have raised our voice and will continue to do so. Our fight does not stop with a refusal letter. Our fight is for the rights of businesses that barely survive in a difficult economic climate. Our fight is for the workers, for their wages, for the well-being of their families,” the party’s announcement continued.
“PDK announces that it will continue this just battle in court. We are convinced that justice is on our side, and we will not stop in the face of any institution that implements harmful policies, without social sensitivity and without state responsibility. Our voice is the voice of more than 150,000 private sector workers who today face the risk of losing their jobs due to unaffordable energy bills.”
