One person has been killed and at least 14 others injured as a result of a Russian drone strike on the port city of Odesa, Ukraine, during the night of June 20, RKS News reports.

Ukrainian authorities stated that the drones struck residential buildings and critical infrastructure, including an educational institution, a gas pipeline, and railway lines.

The regional governor, Oleh Kiper, said that despite the intervention of air defense forces, the damage to civilian areas was extensive. Photos released by officials show burned-out cars and buildings destroyed by explosions.

According to Emergency Services, around ten drones directly hit structures, igniting several large fires that took hours to extinguish.

Ukraine’s Air Force confirmed that Russia launched a total of 86 kamikaze drones overnight across Ukrainian territory. The city of Odesa a key hub for Black Sea trade exports has been repeatedly targeted since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in 2022.
