After Inter Miami’s victory over Porto in the FIFA Club World Cup, Lionel Messi spoke rarely about his relationship with his great sporting rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, reports Rks News.

In a statement to the media after the match, the Argentine star emphasized that there has always been respect between them, even though they are not friends in private life.

“I have respect and admire Cristiano Ronaldo for the career he’s had and continues to have at high levels,” Messi said. He added that their rivalry was only on the pitch, and they always aimed for the best for the teams they represented.

“Off the field, we are two normal people. We are not friends because we haven’t spent time together, but we have always had mutual respect,” said the Inter Miami captain.
