The institutional deadlock in the Kosovo Assembly continues to deepen. Today, on June 21, members of parliament will convene once again in another attempt to constitute the new legislature – for the 35th time, reports Rks News.

The session is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM, but hopes for a breakthrough remain slim.

Since April 15, when the first session was held following the elections, MPs have failed 34 times to vote on the election of the Speaker of the Assembly.

The main obstacle remains the failure to establish the Commission for Secret Ballot Voting, as opposition parties continue to refuse to nominate their members for this commission – a procedural step necessary to move the vote forward.

On the other hand, the Vetëvendosje Movement continues to insist on nominating Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker, although after 34 sessions, she has yet to secure the necessary votes.
