Fires in Albania: Two Active Blazes in Vlorë and Kukës Regions

Albania is currently battling several active wildfires across the country. According to data from the National Civil Emergencies Operational Center, as of 12:00 PM today, seven fire incidents were reported, with five already extinguished and two remaining active.

Extinguished Fires

Fires that have been fully contained and extinguished include blazes in:

  • “Mulliri i Artë” neighborhood, Delvinë municipality
  • Alarup village, Çërravë administrative unit, Pogradec municipality
  • Elbasan road, Administrative Unit No. 2, Tirana municipality
  • Rilë village, Shënkoll administrative unit, Lezhë municipality
  • Malaj village, Rrëshen administrative unit, Mirditë municipality

Active Fire Zones

Currently, two significant fires remain active:

  1. Llaman village, Himarë municipality (Vlorë region): This fire is still active and a substantial force is operating to contain it. This includes 3 firefighting vehicles with 12 Himarë Fire and Rescue personnel, 40 Armed Forces personnel from DRM Gjirokastër with 4 transport vehicles, and 1 Armed Forces helicopter. Supporting these efforts are 30 personnel from the Himarë municipality, including Forest Service, Public Services Enterprise Himarë, and administrative units of Himarë, Horë-Vranisht, and Lukovë.
  2. Kolsh village, Mamëz administrative unit, Kukës municipality: Efforts are underway to extinguish a fire that erupted at an urban waste collection site. Authorities state the situation is improving.
