Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso addressed the media ahead of the Club World Cup clash against Salzburg, where he specifically responded to questions about Rodrygo’s absence from the starting lineup in the previous match.
When asked about the decision, Alonso dismissed any speculation of personal issues, confirming that the Brazilian forward is in good condition.
“I see Rodrygo in good form. He was on the bench for a technical decision,” Alonso stated.
Despite not starting, the Spanish manager emphasized that Rodrygo remains a crucial part of his tactical plans.
“Rodrygo is special and we’ll need him in the Club World Cup,” he added.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged suggesting that Arsenal is interested in signing Rodrygo during the summer transfer window, though no agreement has been made between the clubs.
Alonso concluded by expressing his full confidence in the player, regardless of recent tactical choices.
“I believe in the player, despite recent tactical decisions,” the Real Madrid coach affirmed.
