The death toll from the sudden flash floods that struck Central Texas on Friday has surpassed 100, according to BBC, as reported by RKS News.

Dozens of people remain missing, while search and rescue teams continue scouring the muddy riverbanks. Further rain and storm warnings threaten the region, though hopes of finding survivors are diminishing four days after the disaster.

One of the hardest-hit areas is Mystic Camp, a Christian summer camp for girls, which confirmed that at least 27 campers and staff members are among the victims. Ten girls and one counselor are still unaccounted for.

The White House rejected claims that budget cuts to the National Weather Service (NWS) may have hindered the disaster response.

At least 84 victims — 56 adults and 28 children — were confirmed dead in Kerr County alone, where the Guadalupe River overflowed following torrential rainfall in the early hours of Friday, July 4th — a national holiday in the U.S.

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office stated that 22 adults and 10 children have yet to be identified.
