Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, has reacted to the arrest of police official Bojan Jevtić, suspected of illegal espionage activities on behalf of Serbian security structures. Sveçla stated that this arrest signifies the successful dismantling of espionage networks within Kosovo.

A Sixth Arrest and Confirmed Guilt

In a public post, Sveçla confirmed, “After a long investigation by the security institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, namely the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, the Special Prosecution, and the Kosovo Police, police official Bojan Jevtić was arrested today on suspicion of illegal espionage activity on behalf of Serbia’s security structures.”

He further noted, “This is the sixth consecutive arrest in espionage cases in Kosovo. One of the suspects has already admitted guilt, confirming the seriousness, professionalism of the institutions, as well as Serbia’s involvement in destabilizing efforts against the Republic of Kosovo.”

Uncompromising Stance on National Security

Sveçla underscored the government’s firm stance against any such attempts. “Anyone else who tries to undermine the trusted work and role in the Police will meet the same fate as these cases. Therefore, as always, we will be uncompromising and vigilant against any attempt to turn the space our country provides in the Police into an attack against our republic.”

He lauded the inter-agency cooperation, stating, “The professionalism, cooperation, and coordination of the security institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have once again shown to be essential in achieving results in the fight against illegal activities, specifically those of high risk that often originate from Serbian intelligence structures.”

The Minister concluded by emphasizing Kosovo’s strengthening sovereignty: “The Republic of Kosovo, like never before, is strengthening its sovereignty, integrity, and constitutional order. In this sacred mission, our determination to provide comprehensive support to security institutions has proven to be essential. The fight against illegal activities will continue, just as I am convinced that successes will not be lacking!”
