Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has reacted sharply to the Pristina Basic Court’s decision to order 30 days of detention for Igor Popović, the assistant director of Serbia’s so-called “Office for Kosovo,” led by Petar Petković.
Vučić Vows “Harsh Response”
Vučić stated that Serbia would react very harshly, propagating that “this terror must stop at some point.”
“We will react in a very harsh manner because this terror must stop at some moment,” he said on TV Pink, as reported by Kossev.
He noted that he has informed international actors about the incident. When asked about student protests, Vučić asserted that Serbia faces greater problems than blockades, identifying Albin Kurti as that problem.
Accusations of Provoking Conflict
According to Vučić, Kurti “wants to provoke incidents in the Western Balkans.”
“The latest arrest of Igor Popović shows that Kurti has completely lost his mind and that he wants to provoke incidents and conflicts in the Western Balkans,” Vučić stated. “This could have unpredictable consequences, but we will always fight to preserve peace and stability,” he added.
Popović was arrested by Kosovo Police after making highly offensive remarks about the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during a gathering in Rahovec.
