The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) has confirmed the recovery of the lifeless body of a 33-year-old man from Ujman Lake, following an intensive search and rescue operation conducted in close cooperation with domestic institutions and international partners.

“Following a request from the Emergency Management Center of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and coordination with partners for the deployment of KSF teams, the Commander of the KSF, Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, ordered the Water Rescue Units to carry out a humanitarian operation in search of the reported missing person,” the KSF stated in an official announcement.

Upon receiving the order, KSF teams took all necessary measures and, in coordination with international and central partners, initiated the operation to locate the individual believed to have disappeared in the lake after reportedly jumping from a bridge.

Thanks to the high intensity of the search and the professionalism of the teams on the ground, the victim’s body was located after several hours of coordinated efforts involving the Kosovo Police, the Emergency Management Agency, and KFOR.

“After evacuation, the victim’s body was handed over to the Kosovo Police and the forensic team for further procedures,” the KSF confirmed.

The deceased has been identified as Rrahim Latifi, a 33-year-old originally from Cerajë village in Mitrovica, who had been living in Sweden and had returned to Kosovo for vacation.
