The Directorate of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) has issued a formal response to Arsim Halili, Director of Radio Kosovo, following his public disclosure of internal emails related to the potential return of journalist Jeta Xharra to RTK.
In an official statement, RTK’s management condemned the publication of the emails on social media, describing the act as unauthorized, taken out of context, and manipulative. The Directorate emphasized that such behavior distorts the true meaning of the internal communication and harms the public broadcaster’s reputation.
“The release of internal correspondence without official authorization represents a serious breach of professional ethics and RTK regulations, particularly when performed by a senior management official,” the statement reads.
RTK clarified that the emails in question pertain to a standard procedure for reviewing an audiovisual project proposal. This process complies fully with RTK’s Audiovisual Works Regulation and related bylaws. All commission members contributed to and agreed upon the content of the official communication before it was sent to the applicant, as per established procedures.
The Commission for Audiovisual Works strongly opposes any attempts to misuse institutional processes for personal agendas or to unduly influence public opinion in an inaccurate and harmful manner.
RTK reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and adherence to all legal and regulatory standards in every decision and action.
This development highlights ongoing tensions within Kosovo’s public media institutions regarding governance and transparency, as discussions continue around the role of prominent journalists such as Jeta Xharra.
