Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, has announced that he has instructed the Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) to launch an investigation into any possible negligence or involvement of Kosovo Police officers in the criminal activities of Mefail Shkodra — who remains wanted for the triple homicide in Gjilan.

In his official statement, Minister Sveçla emphasized that he has demanded the maximum commitment of all structures to guarantee the personal and professional integrity of every public servant in the country.

He declared his uncompromising stance in supporting inter-institutional coordination to build credible institutions that serve citizens effectively.

No one is untouchable or immune from accountability, especially within an institution whose mandate is to prevent and combat illegal activities,” Sveçla stated.

The minister also called on the judiciary to act with the same determination to ensure a safe and lawful environment in the Republic of Kosovo.

Meanwhile, Mefail Shkodra and his two sons remain at large, over 24 hours after the triple murder in Gjilan, for which they are wanted as main suspects.
