Smuggling of various goods from Serbia into Kosovo continues to be one of the main challenges for law enforcement authorities. Just yesterday, the Kosovo Police, in cooperation with Customs, managed to stop two such cases in the Gjilan region, seizing goods worth over €20,000.
According to the official statement, the first incident was recorded on August 13 on the Pozhoran–Sllatinë–Viti road, where Task Force units stopped a suspicious vehicle that had entered from North Macedonia toward Kosovo.
Upon inspection, police discovered goods without customs documentation: 3,000 pieces of processed meat products from Serbia, 750 pieces of beef slices from Serbia, and 15,840 packages of chocolate, also produced in Serbia.
The second case was uncovered on the Viti–Gerlicë road, where after stopping another vehicle, police found a considerable quantity of packaged white and black seeds in sacks.
Further inspection of a warehouse belonging to the suspect revealed additional goods without proper documentation.
Authorities stated that the total amount of customs duties evaded in both cases exceeds €5,000. The goods have been seized by Kosovo Customs for further procedures.
