The Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) reacted after the political party “Serb Democracy” claimed that the institution had hidden around 30 complaints submitted by the party.
IPK described these claims as false and tendentious.
“IPK clearly emphasizes that no complaint is hidden. Every case that is received is officially registered, handled in accordance with the legal mandate, and investigated professionally, objectively, and independently, regardless of the ethnic, political, or social affiliation of the complainant,” the institution stated on Tuesday.
According to IPK, in recent years regular meetings have been held with citizens, civil society organizations, and local and international representatives, during which explanations were provided on how complaints are handled, and special reports were published on investigation findings over the past five years.
“The accusations that IPK supposedly ‘sides with the police’ are untrue. IPK is an independent, multiethnic institution based on international standards, which is not influenced and handles every case impartially, seeking accountability from the Kosovo Police based on its legal mandate,” the statement added.
