Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk held telephone discussions with European leaders following the incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace.
After the calls, Tusk stated that he received “not only expressions of solidarity with Poland, but, above all, proposals for concrete support for the air defense of our country,” reports The Guardian, as cited by Reporteri.net. He did not provide further details at this stage.
Polish Foreign Ministry Response
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski described the drone incursion as “deliberate”, noting that NATO and Polish aircraft had shot down the drones after they entered Polish territory during nighttime attacks over Ukraine.
Speaking to journalists, Sikorski explained:
“Russian drones have deviated into Polish airspace before – not just drones, but also cruise missiles. When one or two drones do this, it might be considered a technical defect. But there were 19 incursions, and it is unimaginable that this happened by chance.”
The events have heightened concerns in Poland over airspace security, prompting discussions with European allies about potential measures to strengthen national and regional defense capabilities.
