During a meeting with leaders and members of the “Peja” Association in New York, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti praised the vital role of the Albanian diaspora in the United States, calling them the “unsung heroes not only of Kosovo’s liberation but also of its democratic state-building.”

Kurti, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Liza Gashi, and Kosovo’s Consul General in New York, Blerim Reka, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and for the diaspora’s continuous contributions to Kosovo’s development.

He highlighted that over the past four years, Kosovo has achieved significant progress in economy and development, crediting both the domestic population and the diaspora for supporting families and investing directly in the country. Kurti encouraged compatriots to increase investments in Kosovo, leveraging the opportunities the country offers.

Deputy Minister Gashi briefed attendees on government programs dedicated to the diaspora, particularly initiatives for young professionals, such as the Citizen Diplomacy Program, aimed at integrating diaspora expertise into Kosovo’s development and institutional processes.

Kurti also emphasized the importance of preserving the Albanian language among diaspora youth, underlining that language is key to integration without assimilation and to maintaining national identity.
