The daughter of former KLA commander Salih Mustafa, known as “Cali,” has issued a reaction following the Hague Court’s decision regarding the victims in his case.

On social media, Buna Mustafa said that after speaking with her father, he clarified his stance: according to him, the court’s ruling is unjust and politically motivated.

“I do not feel morally, financially, or in any other form responsible, because they are not my victims. Consequently, I do not seek help from my state or my people to pay the fabricated victims created by the prosecution and certain political circles that distort the truth for personal interests,” his daughter quoted Salih Mustafa as saying.

She also emphasized that her father believes the KLA’s war was just, inevitable, and necessary.

Salih Mustafa was initially sentenced to 26 years in prison for “war crimes,” but the Appeals Court later reduced the sentence to 22 years.

The Supreme Court had returned the decision once again for review to the Appeals Court in The Hague.

The Appeals Court, during the second review, further reduced the sentence from 22 years to 15 years in prison – a verdict that was challenged at the Supreme Court. On February 26, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague confirmed the 15-year prison sentence for Salih Mustafa.
