Exceptionally heavy and early snowfall hit Pristina, Kosovo, on October 3, 2025, while early-season snow also fell in high-altitude regions of Greece.
According to The Watchers, a news site focused on natural events, weather, and environmental hazards, Pristina experienced record-breaking snowfall, accumulating around 10 centimeters throughout the day.
This marks the earliest recorded October snowfall in the region’s history. The previous record for the earliest October snow was set on October 7, 2017, when just 1 cm (0.4 inches) was recorded.
This year’s event also set the record for the heaviest October snowfall ever observed in Pristina, breaking the previous high of 4 cm (1.5 inches), which had been jointly held by October 28, 1997, and October 27, 2003.
Notably, those past records occurred later in the month, while this year’s snowfall took place on the third day of October — an extremely rare event for this early in the season. Heavy snowfall of such intensity at the start of October is virtually unheard of in the region.
