Israel and Hamas are expected to start indirect negotiations in Egypt today, aiming to implement the 20-point peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, reports BBC.
Preparatory meetings began at 10:00 local time (08:00 BST), involving representatives from Hamas, Qatar, and Egypt.
Hamas has accepted some of the plan’s conditions, including the release of Israeli hostages, but has not agreed to all terms. The Hamas delegation is led by Khalil al-Hayya, who was the target of an assassination attempt in Qatar last month.
On Sunday evening, President Trump urged that “everyone act quickly” to advance the negotiations.
