The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has not yet announced a date for the release of the final results of the October 12 municipal elections. However, the CEC emphasizes that it is working intensively to finalize and certify the results as soon as possible.

Current Status of Vote Counting

According to CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, as of Friday morning, 23 municipalities have completed activities at the Municipal Counting Centers (QKNs).

“Currently, the QKNs are verifying the results for municipal mayoral elections and municipal assembly elections. More than half of the municipalities have completed this process, while the remaining centers will finish their verification later today, Friday, and over the weekend,” Elezi explained.

The final results will be announced only after:

  • All procedures at municipal counting centers are completed
  • Votes cast outside Kosovo are counted
  • Votes from persons with special needs are tallied
  • Conditional ballots are verified

“Once all these procedures, as prescribed by law, are completed, the CEC will be in a position to announce the final results,” Elezi said.

Runoff Elections

The second round of mayoral elections is scheduled for November 9, 2025. According to Elezi, the CEC is working to ensure the final results are certified in time for the runoff.

“The announcement of final results does not conclude the electoral process. Parties may appeal the results to the PZAP, and the case could even reach the Supreme Court. The CEC must await decisions from these institutions before certifying the final results,” Elezi added.

Municipalities Participating in the Runoff

Seventeen municipalities will proceed to the runoff, five fewer than in 2021:

Prishtina, Prizren, Gjakova, Gjilani, Dragashi, Kaçaniku, Klina, Fushë Kosova, Mitrovica e Jugut, Obiliqi, Peja, Rahoveci, Suhareka, Vitia, Vushtrria, Juniku, and Kllokoti.

Meanwhile, 22 municipalities have already confirmed winners, four more than in 2021.
