Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized that Gaza urgently needs healing and reconstruction, highlighting Turkey’s ongoing efforts to ensure that the current agreement between Hamas and Israel leads to a sustainable peace.
Speaking at the 5th Türkiye-Africa Business and Economic Forum in Istanbul, Erdoğan stated:
“Because of Israel’s poor record, we remain cautious, as Gaza urgently needs to heal and be rebuilt.”
He added that Turkey is working intensively to make sure the Hamas-Israel deal endures and paves the way for lasting peace.
Regarding the ongoing crisis in Sudan, Erdoğan expressed deep sadness over the clashes and called for a ceasefire and durable peace.
The Turkish leader also criticized the international community for not paying enough attention to the tragedy in Sudan, stressing that:
“Stopping the bloodshed is a humanitarian duty for everyone.”
Erdoğan concluded by saying that the Western world unfortunately views civil wars, conflicts, and disputes in Africa as the continent’s destiny.
