An Albanian citizen was arrested by Croatian authorities after being found with over €700,000 in undeclared cash, marking one of the largest cash seizures at Croatia’s borders.

According to the Croatian Customs Administration, officers, in cooperation with the police at the Karasoviq border crossing, intercepted the attempt during a vehicle inspection leaving Croatia.

During a detailed search of the vehicle driven by the Albanian national, authorities discovered €702,435 in hidden cash.

The Croatian Customs reported that the driver failed to declare the amount to either the Customs Administration or Border Police, neither in writing nor electronically, and had concealed the money inside the vehicle.

The cash has been seized, and the Albanian citizen has been arrested on suspicion of smuggling and is currently in pre-trial detention.
