Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama strongly reacted to the ongoing trial of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders at The Hague, describing it as a “historic injustice” against the liberation struggle.
In a social media post, Rama said it is “terrible to think” that those who once saved Kosovo are now being judged for the freedom they helped secure.
He wrote:
“Isn’t it terrible to imagine that the saviors of a time when Kosovo’s very existence was on the edge of historical injustice against Albanians must appear before a court completely detached from the cause for which it was created, to prove that the fight for freedom is not a crime?”
Rama sharply criticized those who, in his view, “wish Hashim Thaçi would never come out”, calling them “digital Albanians” and “fans blinded by a foolish sense of so-called patriotism.”
Concluding his statement, Rama emphasized that, regardless of today’s developments, Hashim Thaçi’s name will remain forever associated with the fate, freedom, and independence of Kosovo.
