The FBI has launched an investigation following what authorities are describing as a “deliberate explosion” inside a building on the Harvard University Longwood Medical School campus early Saturday morning.

According to CNN, the incident occurred in one of the medical facilities and is being treated as an intentional act, though no injuries were reported.

The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) said one of its officers responded to an alarm at the Goldenson Building at approximately 2:48 a.m. After a fire alarm was triggered, the officer reportedly saw two individuals fleeing the scene.

Fire officials confirmed that an explosion occurred on the building’s fourth floor, and a preliminary assessment determined it was set intentionally.

The Boston Police Department later swept the area for additional explosive devices, but nothing suspicious was found.

Authorities have not yet released details about the nature of the explosion or any potential property damage. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with federal and local agencies cooperating closely.
