The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released the first turnout update for today’s local election runoffs being held across 18 municipalities in Kosovo.

According to the CEC, by 09:00 more than 25,000 citizens had already exercised their right to vote — marking a steady start to election day.

The second round of municipal elections is taking place in several key areas where no candidate secured a majority in the first round, and today’s turnout will determine the final outcome for local leadership.

The CEC is expected to hold its next press conference at 11:30, where updated participation figures up to 11:00 will be announced.

Observers report that voting has so far been proceeding calmly and in line with electoral procedures, with polling stations opening on time across most municipalities.
