The President of Kosovo has officially set December 28 as the date for the country’s extraordinary national elections, announcing the decision today during a press conference in Prishtina.
President Vjosa Osmani stated that the decision was made in accordance with constitutional procedures following the dissolution of the Assembly. She emphasized that citizens’ right to choose a new government must be exercised as soon as possible to ensure political stability and institutional continuity.
“Kosovo deserves clarity and a fully functioning government, and the most legitimate way to achieve this is through the vote of its citizens,” Osmani said during the briefing.
The Central Election Commission is expected to begin preparations immediately, while political parties are entering an accelerated phase of internal coordination and candidate selection due to the short timeline.
Analysts note that these elections could significantly reshape Kosovo’s political landscape, considering recent tensions between governing institutions and ongoing challenges in the dialogue with Serbia.
