President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has responded to public accusations that she is siding with Lëvizja Vetëvendosje and its leader Albin Kurti, stating that “nothing ever fully satisfies anyone” but emphasizing that all her decisions are taken strictly in accordance with Kosovo’s laws and Constitution.

Speaking to the media, Osmani said that political accusations are not new to her and that they often arise regardless of the decisions she makes.

Osmani: I Have Always Acted According to the Law

“Some very wise people long before us have said: if no one ever accuses you of anything, then you have not stood for anything,” Osmani stated.

She recalled the situation in 2021, when the then-governing party—which held over 50% of the vote—wanted to postpone the local elections, supported by smaller coalition partners. At the time, the opposition was significantly smaller than today.

Osmani said she chose a date that favored the opposition to prevent the postponement of elections, even though she had the constitutional authority to approve the delay.

“Even when I selected the date that suited the opposition, I was still accused of consulting and pleasing Kurti,” she said.

Accusations Have Continued for Five Years

Osmani noted that throughout her five years as President, there have been numerous cases where she took positions that contradicted the government’s stance, yet she was still accused of bias.

Despite this, she stressed that she remains committed to defending the interests of citizens, regardless of political pressure.

Message to Political Parties Ahead of Elections

Referring to the upcoming elections, Osmani reminded political parties that, after the vote, they will return to her office to request a mandate.

“It is important that political language remains within normal boundaries. I understand that parties have different positions, but my duty is to ensure that we set a date when elections can be properly organized.”

Osmani concluded that those who issue accusations “without reading, analyzing, or thinking deeply” should reflect more carefully before making claims.
