Vlora Çitaku, Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), paid homage at the memorial complex in Prekaz on November 28, expressing hope that this year would be the last Independence Day marked without former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) currently held in pre-trial detention at The Hague.
“Today we miss many of our war leaders – Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi. May this be the last November we mark without them,” Çitaku said.
She emphasized the symbolic importance of Prekaz for the Albanian people:
“Everything begins from here as a nation. From legendary Prekaz, Prekaz of sacrifice, Prekaz of heroism – a place that serves as a perpetual reminder that the homeland and freedom must be cherished unconditionally. They are the foundation for all other values,” she added.
