The European Union Office in Kosovo has confirmed that the installation of new filters at the “Kosova B” power plant will begin in April 2026, after all necessary conditions for the project have been met.
According to the announcement, the EU-financed investment aims to significantly reduce dust and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, directly contributing to improved air quality throughout Kosovo and the wider region.
The project is considered an important step toward modernizing energy infrastructure and protecting the environment.
The European Union also emphasized that it remains Kosovo’s key partner, having invested €3.7 billion since 1999.
“With the conditions fulfilled, work on the EU-financed filter installation at Kosova B Power Plant will begin in April 2026. This major investment will significantly reduce dust and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and improve air quality across Kosovo and the region. With €3.7 billion invested in 🇽🇰 Kosovo since 1999, 🇪🇺 the EU remains Kosovo’s strongest partner and largest provider of financial assistance,” the announcement reads.
