Kosovo today joins countries around the globe in marking World HIV/AIDS Day, a moment dedicated to awareness, prevention, and solidarity with those affected by the virus.

To commemorate this day, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the National Institute of Public Health, is organizing a roundtable aimed at increasing public understanding of HIV/AIDS and addressing the ongoing challenges in prevention and treatment.

According to recent data, the number of HIV cases in Kosovo remains relatively low. However, experts warn that the figures may not fully reflect reality due to insufficient testing, persistent stigma, and a lack of accurate reporting. These barriers continue to hinder early diagnosis and effective treatment.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes the urgent need to strengthen health education, expand testing services, and ensure safe, reliable access to necessary medication for all who need it. Today’s roundtable brings together healthcare professionals, institutional representatives, and civil society organizations to discuss current gaps and shape future public health policies.

As Kosovo marks this important day, health authorities stress that awareness, education, and destigmatization remain essential tools in protecting public health and supporting individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
