A tragic incident occurred on the coast of the Greek island of Crete, where a damaged boat was discovered carrying 18 deceased migrants. Two people survived and reported that they had lost control of the vessel during a severe storm.

The boat had been left adrift without water, food, or any means of protection, while the storm brought winds exceeding 90 km/h. According to the Greek Coast Guard, the 18 victims had been dead for more than a day when the boat was found.

Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the incident, while the origin of the migrants remains unclear. Experts warn that the route from Tobruk, Libya, to Crete is one of the most dangerous for human trafficking. According to UNHCR, nearly 17,000 migrants have arrived in Crete from January to early December of this year.
