President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, addressed the public via video from the Bahamas after the country officially recognized Kosovo’s independence, describing the moment as a historic achievement for the nation.

President Osmani emphasized that the recognition came as a result of long-standing and intensive efforts by the Presidency.

“Greetings to all citizens of Kosovo. We are live from the Bahamas, the state that has just recognized our Republic. This is truly another historic milestone for Kosovo. We are extremely pleased that, after long and intensive efforts by the Presidency, today in the capital of the Bahamas we signed the recognition agreement together with Prime Minister Davis, and we also signed an agreement establishing diplomatic relations,” Osmani said.

She further highlighted that discussions during the meetings focused on deepening relations between the two countries, noting the significant potential for closer ties.

“We also had an extraordinary meeting where we discussed how to further strengthen our relations across areas of mutual interest. There is great potential for our states to come closer, and we are very grateful for the engagement of the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of the Bahamas. We met them in New York previously, and following highly productive discussions, we organized this visit, which resulted in the signing of recognition and diplomatic agreements, as well as numerous other benefits for our bilateral relations. I once again thank the Bahamas and its wonderful people, and we look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Davis to Kosovo soon. Good news for our country will not stop,” Osmani added.
