Iran has offered comprehensive support to Venezuela in response to what Caracas describes as U.S. threats and military operations, according to a statement from Venezuelan diplomacy.

The offer was made during a telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of Iran and Venezuela, in which both sides discussed recent developments in the Caribbean, particularly U.S. actions against Venezuelan oil shipments.

Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Iván Gil said the discussion with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, focused on what Caracas described as threats, acts of piracy by the United States, and the seizure of vessels transporting Venezuelan oil.

Venezuela accepted the expression of absolute solidarity from the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as its offer of cooperation in all fields to confront piracy and international terrorism that the United States seeks to impose by force,” Gil said following the call.

Iran’s Offer of Assistance

Iran has reportedly offered assistance to Venezuela in the supply of fuel, food, and medicine. Tehran is considered one of the key allies of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who has repeatedly claimed that the United States is attempting to orchestrate a plot to remove him from power.

U.S. Military Presence and Oil Seizures

In recent months, the United States has deployed a significant military presence in the region, including warships and dozens of military aircraft, citing a campaign against drug trafficking.

Since the beginning of this month, U.S. forces have seized two oil tankers carrying Venezuelan crude, actions that Caracas says are part of a “total blockade” announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
