KFOR Commander Meets Albanian Army Chief to Discuss Security in Kosovo and the Region

The Commander of NATO’s KFOR mission, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, met today with the Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, at KFOR Headquarters in Camp Film City, Prishtina.

During the meeting, the two senior military leaders exchanged views on the current security situation in Kosovo and the wider Western Balkans region, highlighting the importance of continued coordination and stability in an increasingly sensitive geopolitical environment.

According to a statement released by the NATO-led KFOR mission, General Ulutaş expressed his sincere appreciation for Albania’s valuable and consistent contribution to the KFOR mission, underlining Tirana’s role as a reliable NATO ally and regional security partner.

KFOR reaffirmed its commitment to fully implementing its mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), which tasks the mission with ensuring a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo, as well as guaranteeing freedom of movement at all times and in an impartial manner.

The mission further emphasized that KFOR continues to operate in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in accordance with their respective roles as security responders.

NATO reiterated that KFOR remains vigilant and prepared to respond to any developments that could undermine peace and stability in Kosovo and the region.
