Kosovo is just days away from the early parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday, December 28, and the Central Election Commission (KQZ) has announced that preliminary results will start being published shortly after the closing of polling stations.
KQZ spokesperson Valmir Elezi confirmed that the publication of election results will begin before 8:00 PM, updating vote counts polling station by polling station.
“Results will be published as soon as ballots from each polling station are counted. The data will be made available on the results platform in real time,” Elezi explained.
Elezi also outlined the counting procedures for both political parties and individual candidates. According to the Law on General Elections, party votes are counted at the polling stations immediately after voting concludes, while votes for individual candidates are counted at the Municipal Counting Centers.
Preparations have been made to ensure that the preliminary results of political parties for the Kosovo Assembly elections are published on December 28. Additionally, voter turnout data will be released at specific times throughout the election day (09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, and 19:00), broken down by municipality, polling center, and polling station.
Elezi emphasized that the software used to transmit preliminary results from polling stations, as well as the process conducted in the 38 Municipal Counting Centers and the central Counting and Results Center, has been developed with the support of the United Kingdom government.
Kosovars and international observers alike will closely monitor the election, which is expected to shape the country’s political landscape for the coming years.
