Italian soldiers serving with NATO’s KFOR mission have carried out patrols across Kosovo, aiming to ensure a visible and reassuring presence on the ground, the mission announced.
According to KFOR, Italian troops from the Regional Command West continue to perform daily operational activities along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) and throughout Kosovo, as part of NATO’s long-standing peacekeeping mission.
Visible Presence and Situational Awareness
The patrols were conducted with the purpose of enhancing situational awareness and maintaining stability, while also providing reassurance to local communities.
“Through their professionalism and dedication, Italian soldiers contribute to regional stability and play a key role in KFOR’s ongoing mission,” the NATO-led force stated.
KFOR emphasized that such patrols are an essential component of its mandate, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo, regardless of ethnicity or background.
Commitment to Security and Neutrality
KFOR reiterated that it continues to operate in full accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), maintaining a neutral and impartial approach while safeguarding freedom of movement at all times.
The mission also highlighted its close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), acting as security responders within their respective roles.
Italian troops remain among the key contributors to KFOR, reinforcing NATO’s commitment to peace, stability, and security across Kosovo and the wider region.
