On January 6, 1999, the Shala Operational Zone of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) captured eight Serbian soldiers. On January 13, they were exchanged for nine KLA soldiers.

In a video published from the archive of the Associated Press (AP), eight Serbian soldiers captured in 1999 in the village of Bare, in the Shala of Bajgora region, can be seen after being taken prisoner by KLA fighters, reports KosovaPress, relayed by Rks News.

In the footage, one of the captured soldiers speaks, using broken English, stating that their treatment was completely normal. He says they were neither beaten nor attacked by KLA soldiers. According to him, the captured Serbian soldiers were also provided with food and clothing.
