German Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) journalist Michael Martens has continued his public criticism of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, this time focusing on her statement that U.S. President Donald Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
Martens responded with an ironic post on X, commenting on Osmani’s remarks as reported by Rks News. He compared her suggestion to similar tactics he says were used by Hungary’s Viktor Orbán — portraying closeness to Trump ahead of elections.
In his post, Martens wrote:
“Trump is just Trump — and shares a video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys. Meanwhile, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, a forward‑looking leader with excellent moral integrity, suggests — as Orbán did before her — that Trump should receive the Nobel Peace Prize.”
Martens continued his post with further irony, suggesting that certain groups may not share Osmani’s enthusiasm:
“People in Ukraine, Denmark, Greenland, Canada, Poland, etc., or the loved ones of those killed by ICE, might not share this enthusiasm. But surely, the people liberated from their dictator in Venezuela will soon enjoy the fruits of democracy, which is all Trump wants. So, a good choice by Osmani.”
