The Assembly of Kosovo has entered a 15-minute recess to allow the Temporary Commission for Verification of MPs’ Mandates to complete its review process, according to local media reports on Tuesday.
During the session, 118 members of parliament were present, and all unanimously voted in favor of the commission’s composition, marking the first procedural step in the constitution of the new legislative term.
Following the verification of parliamentary mandates, lawmakers are expected to proceed with the official oath-taking ceremony for newly elected deputies.
Subsequently, the Assembly will move forward with the election of the Speaker of Parliament and deputy speakers, a process that requires at least 61 votes for approval.
According to political expectations, Albulena Haxhiu is anticipated to be nominated for the position of Speaker of the Assembly.
The constitutive session is a key milestone following Kosovo’s recent parliamentary elections, setting the stage for the formation of legislative leadership and the continuation of parliamentary functions.
