NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated today that he expects Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to provide accountability regarding the Banjskë attack.
The statement came following a meeting with NATO Defense Ministers, during which Rutte addressed questions from reporters.
“I and the Alliance are in close contact with the Serbian President. We expect accountability for what happened in Banjskë in 2023 and for other events that year. We closely monitor developments through KFOR and other activities in the Western Balkans, including in Bosnia and Kosovo. We are deeply involved and following events closely,” Rutte said.
The reference is to the attack that occurred on 24 September 2023 in Banjskë, during which police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
